ADAS Calibration & Electrical Diagnostics

International Auto Collision Center

Modern vehicles rely on cameras, radar, lidar, and ultrasonic sensors. After a collision, windshield or bumper work, suspension changes, or module replacement, these systems must be calibrated to OEM specs.

🎯 Camera & Radar Cal 🛡️ Blind Spot / RCTA 🅿️ Park Sensors & Auto Park 🧭 360° Surround View 🔌 Electrical Diagnostics

Systems We Calibrate & Program

Forward Camera (F-CAM) — LKA/LDW, TSR, AHB 🎥

Static target board alignment; often required after windshield/camera removal.
  • Triggers: windshield replacement, camera removal, crash, roof/ADAS bracket repair

Forward Radar (MRR/LRR) — ACC, AEB 📡

Distance & angle calibration with laser/digital leveling on a level surface.
  • Triggers: bumper/grille repair, bracket or ride height changes, crash with front impact

Blind Spot & Rear Cross Traffic (BSM/RCTA) 🛡️

Corner radar modules aimed through rear quarters/bumper covers.
  • Triggers: quarter/bumper replacement, radar/module replacement, crash with rear/side damage

360° Surround View / AVM 🧭

Top-view stitching; mat patterns placed to OEM distances for each camera.
  • Triggers: camera replacement, mirror/door/hatch work, alignment/ride height changes

Rear Camera & Guidelines 📷

Re-aim and pattern calibrations; guideline scaling & offset.
  • Triggers: hatch/bumper replacement, camera removal, module coding

Parking Sensors (Ultrasonic) & Auto Park 🅿️

Ultrasonic sensor learn; auto-park routine verifications.
  • Triggers: bumper cover/retainer replacements, sensor swaps, harness repairs

Adaptive Headlights / AFS & Auto High Beam 💡

Headlamp leveling, swivel home, projector cut-off aiming to spec.
  • Triggers: headlamp/module replacement, height sensor/strut work

Head-Up Display (HUD) Alignment 🪟

Focus, image height, and angle alignment after dash or glass work.
  • Triggers: windshield/dash replacements, HUD module swaps

Driver Monitoring (DMS) / Interior Camera 🧑‍✈️

Eye-box centering and focus for attention and fatigue systems.
  • Triggers: module replacement, windshield/dash removal

Night Vision / IR Camera 🌙

Thermal camera alignment & scaling where supported.
  • Triggers: camera/module replacement, front-end repairs

Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) & Yaw/IMU 🧭

Essential baselines for ADAS handoff and stability control.
  • Triggers: alignment, subframe/steering work, module replacement

Lidar (where equipped) 🔭

Mounting verification and angle checks per OEM workflow.
  • Triggers: sensor replacement, bracket repair, front-end collision

TPMS, ABS/Speed Sensors & Network Resets 🛞

Initialization and relearns after repairs or module changes.
  • Triggers: wheel/suspension/brake work, battery disconnects

Module Coding/Programming 🧩

As-built data, parametrization, and updates when supported.
  • Triggers: module replacement, firmware updates, configuration changes

Electrical Diagnostics 🔌

CAN/LIN comm faults, parasitic draws, wiring/ground repairs, connector replacements.
  • Tools: OEM scans, guided diagnostics, scope/amp clamp testing

What We Need for a Successful Calibration

✅ Level floor space & clear target zones (per OEM distance/height)
✅ Correct tire size, pressures set, alignment within spec
✅ Fuel & load per OEM (remove heavy cargo/roof racks)
✅ Clean glass, emblems, and sensor windows; no wraps on targets
✅ Battery support or good state-of-charge
✅ All modules connected; no pending bodywork in sensor areas

How It Works

  1. Pre-scan & inspect: codes, live data, and visual checks; prep the vehicle and target area.
  2. Static calibration: set targets and distances; laser/digital leveling; follow OEM prompts.
  3. Dynamic drive (if required): controlled route to complete learn procedures.
  4. Post-scan & road test: verify no DTCs and proper function (camera/radar/parking/alerts).
  5. Documentation: you receive scan reports and a calibration record for your files/claim.

FAQ

How long does an ADAS calibration take?
Simple single-system calibrations can be 1–3 hours when prerequisites are met; multi-system or vehicles requiring a dynamic drive take longer.
Do I need an alignment before calibration?
If alignment or ride height is out of spec, most OEMs require alignment first for an accurate calibration.
My dash shows ADAS warnings—can you diagnose?
Yes. We scan, test components and wiring, and advise whether calibration, parts, or programming are needed.
Do you work with insurance?
Absolutely. We document OEM procedures and supply reports for your claim.
